Maharashtra owes the Centre Rs 30,352 crore in GST dues, according to Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra’s state finance minister, Ajit Pawar, told the Legislative Council that the central government owes the state Rs 30,352 crore in GST compensation. Pawar was speaking after the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Bill (Amendment) 2021 was introduced and passed by voice vote.

Pawar said the GST Council, which is chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and includes member finance ministers, is working on the bill. Following the adoption of decisions, the Centre implements them first, with states following suit in their separate legislatures.
