Tata Motors delivers 10 Nexon electric SUVs to the Government of Gujarat

Tata Motors which is one of India’s leading car manufacturers has been popular among buyers for their built quality. The manufacturer has now handed over Nexon EVs to Government of Gujarat. As part of its tender agreement with EESL, Tata Motors has handed over 10 Nexon EVs to be used by senior Government officials of the Government of Gujarat, associated with the Statue of Unity, located in Kevadiya, Gujarat. The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta (Additional Chief Secretary (Industries & Mines Deptt) & MD Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam, GOG.) on Independence Day.

EESL is a joint venture of four public-sector undertakings under the power ministry promoting the adoption of EVs. It purchases electric cars from manufacturers and leases them to government departments and cab aggregators.

Nexon EV holds a market share of nearly 70% in the rapidly growing market for EVs. With more than 6000 Nexon EVs plying on Indian roads currently, the model has been widely appreciated by customers and the industry alike, claimed the automaker.Last week, Tata Motors teased a facelift of its compact sedan Tigor EV which will come with Ziptron electric powertrain.

The company’s Ziptron technology debuted with its Nexon EV. Cars with the Ziptron powertrain come equipped with batteries with a warranty of eight years and meeting IP67 standards.

Tata Motors entered the EV market with Tigor EV as a fleet offering and expanded to the personal segment with Nexon EV to make EVs aspirational. In 2017, Tata Motors delivered the first set of Tigor EV to the EESL as a fleet vehicle deployed across various government ministries and PSUs.
