Gujarat Set to Host India’s Largest Dairy Industry Conference after 27 Years

The Indian Dairy Association’s (IDA) 49th Dairy Industry Conference and Expo is set to take place in Gandhinagar from March 16 to 18. The conference will bring together dairy experts, cooperatives, milk producers, government officials, scientists, planners, and other stakeholders to discuss the theme of “India Dairy to the world: Opportunities & Challenges.”

The conference will be inaugurated on March 16 by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala, and attended by various high-profile guests, including Union Minister of state of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and International Dairy Federation President Piercristiano Brazzale. The Indian Dairy Summit on March 18 will have Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah as the chief guest.

The conference is the largest gathering of the $10 billion Indian dairy industry and aims to discuss global dairy trends, farm innovations, sustainability, climate change, nutrition, and health in India. It will also showcase the latest technologies in milk production, storage, processing, and packaging solutions, and awards will be given in various categories to individuals and organizations for their contribution to the growth of the dairy industry.

India is the largest milk-producing nation in the world, with over 220 million tonnes produced in 2021-22. The industry is expected to grow, with milk production projected to reach 628 million tonnes by 2047. The conference will help chart a path to meeting these objectives and make India a thriving hub of dairy innovations and solutions.

“The Dairy Industry Conference is the biggest conference of the Indian dairy industry, and what makes the conference even more special is that it is taking place in Gujarat after a gap of 27 years,” said RS Sodhi, President of the Indian Dairy Association.
