The ‘About this result’ panel was first introduced by Google in February, but the information it included was far more limited. It displayed a Wikipedia highlight about the web page’s source, as well as information on whether the result was secure and whether it was an organic or paid search.
However, Google had made the panel considerably more robust and interactive with the upgrade. Despite the panel’s previous limited scope, Google informed Mashable India via email that it has been used “over 100 million times.” “Our early data has revealed that individuals are more likely to consult these panels when looking for critical information like health,” the business said, adding that “this is a good thing.”
The search algorithm of the world’s most popular source of information is certainly difficult to grasp, and according to Mashable India, with Google’s advances in machine learning for surfacing results for increasingly sophisticated queries, it’s just growing harder for non-techies to grasp.
