Flipkart launches app ‘Shopsy’ to boost local entrepreneurship

Flipkart, which is owned by Walmart, has launched an app called “Shopsy,” which would allow people to become resellers of goods in their network using platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook. “With the capacity to influence their local network and fulfil their dreams, Shopsy users will be able to share catalogues of a wide range of 15 crore products offered by Flipkart vendors, ranging across fashion, electronics, and other categories,” says the company.

Users can use their phone numbers to register on the Shopsy app and begin their online entrepreneurial career, according to the company. “Through contacts with a trusted human, this platform intends to provide new to digital commerce consumers access to products by easing the procedure… Flipkart hopes to empower over 25 million online entrepreneurs by 2023 with Shopsy, as they realise the benefits of digital collaboration.

Users of Shopsy can exchange product catalogues with potential consumers via major social media and messaging apps, place orders on their behalf, and profit from the sales.

The commission rate varies according to the product type being ordered. Prakash Sikaria, Flipkart Senior Vice President (Growth and Monetisation), said that for many years, Flipkart has been committed to helping create direct and indirect job opportunities across the country.

“Shopsy was created to help realise that ambition and give extra income prospects for millions of Indian entrepreneurs. Anyone, from anywhere, can now start an online business with no money down. Furthermore, we are making Flipkart’s years of e-commerce expertise available to Indian entrepreneurs ” he Added.Flipkart’s inventory, proven delivery networks, and infrastructure will now be used by entrepreneurs to bring dependability and speed, he said.

These advantages will help companies improve the end-user experience, which will help them develop their business, according to Sikaria. Many Indian internet users do not shop online due to two major issues: trust and simplicity.

“Distributed commerce” as a channel has witnessed great growth globally and has helped alleviate these difficulties. Shopsy’s goal is to make e-commerce easier for communities and third-party channels where users spend time and trust.
