According to the Union health ministry, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses delivered in the country has topped 50 crore, with more than 43.29 lakh doses given on Friday. “India sets a new milestone for #COVID19 immunisation, with 50 crore doses administered to date!” Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Health, said in a tweet.
He went on to say that the country required 85 days to reach the 10 crore mark because of the increasing rate of vaccination. It took 45 days to reach the 20-crore level, and another 29 days to reach the 30-crore mark. It took India another 24 days to reach 40 million immunizations, and another 20 days to reach 50 million. “India’s cumulative COVID-19 immunisation coverage has crossed the 50-crore landmark milestone (50, 03, 48,866),” according to the health ministry.
According to a provisional report submitted at 7 p.m., more than 43.29 lakh (43, 29,673) pills were provided on Friday. The first dose was given to 22, 93,781 people aged 18 to 44, while the second dose was given to 4, 32,281 people on Friday.
Since the start of the third phase of the vaccination drive, a total of 17,23,20,394 people in the specified age range have gotten the first dose of the vaccine and 1,12,56,317 have received the second dose of the vaccine across all states and Union territory.
The COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to individuals in the 18-44 age group in five states: Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, according to the ministry.In addition, the first dosage of the vaccine was delivered to over 10 lakh recipients in the 18-44 age range in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
According to the provisional data, a total of 43, 29,673 vaccine doses were provided on the 203rd day of the immunisation drive (August 6), with 32,10,613 recipients receiving the first dose and 11,19,060 receiving the second dose. By late at night, the final report would be ready.
The immunisation programme as a measure to protect the country’s most vulnerable populations from COVID-19 is still being assessed and monitored at the highest level, according to the ministry.
On January 16, healthcare workers (HCWs) were the first to get immunised as part of the vaccination campaign. Frontline workers (FLWs) have been vaccinated since February 2.
The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 for persons over 60 years old and those aged 45 and over who have certain co-morbid disorders.
From April 1, the country began vaccinating all people above the age of 45 and the government decided to broaden the vaccination campaign by enabling anyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated From May 1.
