Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced the launch of JioPhone Next, a fully featured smartphone that is developed in partnership with Google. “JioPhone Next is one of the most affordable smartphones globally, which has cutting-edge technology,” Ambani said. The JioPhone Next will be launched first in India on September 10, and later it will be taken to many other countries.
Some of the features in the new JioPhone Next include, voice assistant, automatic-read aloud on screen text, language translation, smart camera with augmented reality filters, and much more.
Last year, Reliance Jio announced a partnership with Google. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said of the new smartphone, “Our next step is starting with the new, affordable Jio smartphone in collaboration with Google and Jio. This phone is designed for India and is for millions of new users, who will experience the Internet for the first time. The new 5G partnership between Google Cloud and Jio will help more than a billion Indians connect to the fast internet. At the same time, it will be the foundation for digitizing India.
At the 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Mukesh Ambani revealed that Reliance Jio has added 37.9 million new customers this year. The company now serves more than 425 million customers. The Jio platform has a net profit of Rs 86,493 crore.
