No change in JEE Mains phase 4 dates, testing body says as revised schedule creates confusion

New Delhi: A public notification announcing the issue of admission cards for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains has caused uncertainty among parents and students about the exam’s dates, which are due to start on July 20.The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced Tuesday night that the third round of the JEE Mains exams will take place on four dates: July 20, 22, 25, and 27. However, this contradicts what Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the former education minister, had said. According to Pokhriyal, the third phase of the exam will take place from July 20 to July 25, while the fourth phase will commence on July 26.

“On the 20th, 22nd, 25th, and 27th of July 2021, the National Testing Agency will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2021 for the postponed April Session (Session – 3) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode at different centres located in 334 cities across the country and abroad for the postponed April Session (Session – 3). The overall number of applicants enrolled for Session – 3 is 709519, according to the NTA notification. However, the NTA has emphasized that there will be no changes to the fourth phase dates at this time, and that certain students in the third phase will have their exams on July 27 due to “technical issues.”“At this time, the fourth phase dates are unchanged. Due to purely technical concerns, the third phase deadline has been extended till July 27. According to a senior NTA official, “the agency aims to manage the backlog of students who were already registered as well as new students who registered later.” Those who were unable to register for the exam prior to the announcement of the dates on July 6 were permitted till July 6 to do so.
