Six completely vaccinated people who attended an outdoor wedding in Texas in April were infected with COVID-19, but only the one who was inoculated with Covaxin died, according to a recent study published in the United States. The rest of the people who were given Moderna and Pfizer survived.
According to a story by Business Insider, only one person who received an Indian-made vaccine, Covaxin, died after attending the 92-person wedding near Houston, according to a preprint study from Baylor College of Medicine. Though the vaccinations developed by Pfizer and Moderna may not be able to prevent every instance of COVID-19, especially now that the more virulent Delta form is prevalent across the United States, the study claims that they are effective.
“Sera from patients who had gotten one dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine minimally inhibited variant Delta,” a group of French researchers claimed in a publication published in the journal Nature on Thursday, according to a Hindustan Times report. “The administration of two doses resulted in a neutralising reaction in 95 percent of people,” said Olivier Schwartz, the study’s principal author. According to health specialists in India, the Delta variety of Covid-19 can potentially fracture the vaccine cover, as SARS CoV-2 — the virus that causes the sickness — has the ability to acquire lethal mutations, according to another study.
As new variants emerge, the spike protein changes and the structure changes completely, this is why current vaccinations are rendered ineffective.
