Amazon’s Small Business Days sees record sales for over 84K SMBs

According to Amazon India, the company’s recently organized Small Business Days (SBD) enabled more over 84,000 Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) recover from the economic disruptions created by the second round of Covid-19.The three-day tournament took place from July 2 to 4. Non-metro cities like as Kodagu (Karnataka), Dholpur (Rajasthan), Eta (Uttar Pradesh), Giridih (Jharkhand), Una (Himachal Pradesh), and Tinsukia accounted for 68 percent of the 84,000 dealers (Assam).

Approximately 7,500 sellers received their biggest single-day sale, an increase of more than 2.8 times over the previous such SBD held in December 2020.

Above the previous SBD, the number of vendors who made over Rs 1 crore increased sixfold. Thousands of small businesses took part in the event, and 1,700 of them received orders from 125 cities across 23 states. In a statement, Pranav Bhasin, Director, MSME and Selling Partner Experience, Amazon India, said, “As India tries to get back on track following the impact of the Covid-19 second wave, we are prioritising our efforts to help small businesses, artisans, weavers, women entrepreneurs, and small local offline shops bounce back from the economic disruption.”

“To that end, we held Amazon Small Business Days, which we extended from a single day to three days in order to help our sellers create more business and recover. We are awed by the event’s customer response, as more than 84,000 sellers, including 1,700 small local offline stores, received at least one order “,he added.

Customers from approximately 20,300 zip codes around the country browsed for unique and differentiating products from vendors, manufacturers, start-ups and brands, women entrepreneurs, craftsmen and weavers, and local stores during the SBD. Food processors, organic honey, laptop tables, weighing scales, Bluetooth headphones, yoga mats, face masks, jackfruit flour, and onion-infused oil are among the best-selling items. Quarant (3.1 times vs. business as usual), Odisha Handloom (1.5 times vs. business as usual), JH Gallery- Handicraft (1.8 times vs. business as usual), and Zouk were among the top-performing sellers (1.1 times vs. business as usual). Amazon.in just revealed the dates for its annual Prime Day event in India, which will take place on July 26 and 27, and will feature two days of the finest Prime has to offer.
